About Us
The Property Owners' Association of Queensland Inc. (POAQ)
is a long established organisation with a history of service in protecting the
rights of Queensland property owners, dating back to 1916 and the First World
War.
The POAQ is a not-for-profit incorporated association managed
by a volunteer Executive Committee of elected members, representing the
interests of those people involved in housing over 30% of Queensland's
householders in private rental dwellings.
Membership is open to any person with an interest in rental
property - investors, owners / landlords, land developers, builders, Real
Estate sales people, property management personnel, housing service providers
etc.
Aims
The aims of the POAQ are:
- To safeguard the rights of rental property owners by ensuring a voice
within the industry
- To keep the industry viable by representation to governments
- To promote excellent management practices by the provision of education,
services and support

A business climate in which all stakeholders in the rental industry achieve
maximum satisfaction from every rental activity.
OUR MISSION
To protect and promote, by all legitimate and lawful means, the
interests of rental property owners throughout Queensland.
OUR ROLE
In order to achieve our mission we will:
- At all times promote a professional and ethical business approach to the
ownership and operation of rental property.
- Recruit and retain members in order to strengthen both the POAQ and its
voice within the rental industry.
- Educate and inform our membership on industry best practice so as to
maximise personal and financial satisfaction from all rental activities, by
way of the regular publication of a newsletter and training via educational
seminars and forums.
- Vigorously lobby and liaise with Commonwealth, State and Local
Governments and agencies to ensure equitable rental laws.
- Liaise with other bodies and organisations within the rental industry to
achieve the aims and objectives of the POAQ and its members.
- Identify new and emerging issues in the rental industry and develop
appropriate responses to them.
The Property Owners' Association of Queensland Inc. has a regional
Branch in Maryborough. On joining the POAQ, members living in or having rental
property in the Maryborough / Hervey Bay area may elect to participate in the
activities of this Branch which deals specifically with rental housing issues
and problems in the region.
The POAQ is open to requests from groups of members in other regions re
forming their own local Branches. Information on the formation and operation
of such Branches, under the auspices of the POAQ, is available from the POAQ
Office.
